BS 7258 Parts 1 - 4 Laboratory Fume cupboards: BS 7258 is the current British Standard for laboratory fume cupboards and is made up of 4 parts Part 1 - Specification for safety and performance Part 2 - Recommendation for exchange of information and installation Part 3 - Recommendation for selection use and maintenance Part 4 - Method for determination of containment value of laboratory fume cupboard 
This standard should be used as the basis for selecting and testing of commercial/industrial fume cupboards
BS EN 14175 New European Standard for Laboratory Fume cupboards The European standard for fume cupboards comprises of seven parts. The initial parts referring to Vocabulary and Safety Testing Methodology have been published. Once all the parts of the document are published BS EN 14175 will gradually supersede BS7258. BS EN 14175 is intended to provide a common European standard for the design, installation and use of fume cupboards and the resultant maintenance and testing procedures. HVCA DW154 Specification for plastics Ductwork DW154 replaced DW151 which was the original specification document for the fabrication and installation of plastic ductwork. Plastic ductwork (normally UPVC or polypropylene) is used for the majority of extraction systems to fume cupboards. Installation by a HVCA member is the safest way to ensure that a safe and efficient system is provided.
